Verbs - Simple Present Tense

Alright then students, today I would like to share about simple present tense. Before that, I really love to tell you this. Do yo know why English has lots of tenses? Simple Present Tense, Simple Past Tense, Present Continuous, Past Continuous, Future Tense and so on? Well, this is what my lecturer shared with me in one of the lesson. He said that

"English people really values time. That is why English people takes time in consideration whenever they want to construct a sentence"
Basically that is what he meant. I could not remember the exact words though.. sorry for that :)

Okay now, Simple Present Tense. According to this one book that I really love to refer, 'Correct your English Errors' by Tim Collins.

In this book, Collins explain that we use simple present tense to talk about:

1. Things that are always true
    e.g:Cats hate water

2. Things that happen regularly
    e.g: School starts in fall

3. Habits and routines
e.g: I brush my teeth everyday

4. Future actions that are part of a schedule
My train leaves at 5.21 P.M.

Articles A, An, and The

Hi again, students! Today we are going to learn about articles. What is articles? According to  owl.english.purdue.edu  ,  articles function like an adjective, which modify nouns.

 English has two articles:
1. the
2. a/an.

  • 'The' is used to refer to specific or particular nouns
  • A/an is used to modify general noun, or also known as non-specific or non-particular nouns.
  • We call 'the' as the definite article and 'a/an' as the indefinite article.
For example:
  • I have a cat.
  • He goes to the school.
  • She wants an umbrella.

For futher explanation, try watching this video.

Students, after you done, have fun do these exercises to enhance your understanding. Good luck!
